Webkinz Online – Guest Writer

This week we feature a guest writer: Bri Reisinger, 6th grade student at Central Manor. Lately there has been a great deal of talk about online virtual environments and Bri has written a brief overview of one popular online world: Webkinz.

Webkinz is a fun, safe online environment that allows kids to take care of a virtual pet, chat with other kids, and play games. When you buy a Webkinz stuffed animal, it comes with a code that allows you to adopt a virtual pet. Then, you can build a room for your pet. You can buy toys and furniture for your room.

To make money to buy furniture and items for your room with, one of the things you can do is go to the arcade and play games. The higher your score is, the more money you earn!

You can go to Clubhouse chat rooms to play games, chat, and interact with other kids and their pets. Webkinz has a list of phrases that you can say to each other. This way kids can’t give out any information about themselves. There are a lot of phrases so kids have a lot to talk about.

There is a lot more to do in Webkinz World, so go online to www.webkinz.com and check it out!

I love seeing a guest writer and hope this feature continues, espcially if the writer is a student. Nice job, Bri.

Bri, I am wondering if you took a survey how many adults also have a Webkinz pet. I know of two mothers who also have the critters.
Amazing. Where can I purchase one?

    Hi, Bri,

Thanks so much for your informative article. I wasn’t quite sure what Webkinz was. Several of my first graders have brought one in for Show and Tell, so I’m glad to have gotten the scoop from you! Thanks again for teaching something new to a teacher!

    Shelby,
I have a Webkinz pet. I got my white terrier at Hallmark on Centerville Road at the Giant shopping Plaza. I like to play the Quizzy Word challange at Webkinz World. (when I have time)
