Comcast Offers Low Cost Internet for Students

Comcast has begun offering reduced rate cable modem service for families receiving free lunch as part of the National School Lunch Program. Families with at least one child receiving free lunch may qualify for a special $9.95 a month Internet connection. The service is 1.5 Mbps, which is certainly much more that dial-up. Comcast is also offering starter netbooks at the reduced rate of $150.00.

Once enrolled, participants will receive Internet service for $9.95 a month plus tax as long as at least one child in their household continues to receive free lunches under the National School Lunch Program. Participants are also required to keep their account in good standing and abide by the company’s usage policy.

Details are online: http://www.internetessentials.com. Parents simply need to call the hotline (1-855-8-INTERNET) to begin the application process.
