Teacher Tech Accomplishments

2008 is starting off with two bangs.

First up- Tina Shank, FCS teacher at Manor Middle School has learned that she is the recipient of a $5000 Student Achievement Grant from the National Education Association. The grant recognizes her innovative uses of technologies such as Moodle and laptops to enhance student experiences with business communication. Specifically, students will benefit from new laptop gear as they participate in “Project Linus”: a philanthropic organization focused on providing handcrafted blankets to children in need. The NEA award is actually the second $5000 award for Tina. Great work Tina- you have captured lightening in a bottle twice!

Next up- Kevin Bower and Megan Augustine’s “Priceless” student project has been selected for the student showcase at the February 2008 PA Educational Technology Conference and Expo (PETE&C). Kevin and Megan will be showing off a collaborative 6th grade project where students storyboard, write and produce digital advertisements based on the popular Mastercard “Priceless” meme. This is Kevin’s second trip to the PETE&C student showcase. Awesome work Megan and Kevin!
